My family is getting a puppy tomorrow. It's a 7 week old cockapoo.
The reason I'm posting this in adolescent, is cause I want answers from people my own age, not answers 'dog training experts' will give me.
Stuff like, don't leave your (something random) laying around.
So, teens, any advice?Teens, any advice for me with a new puppy?
the only thing i have to say is, please take care of it! spoiling the dog is bettter than neglecting it!Teens, any advice for me with a new puppy?
hah, don't spoil it, and doesn't seem like you're neglect it.
Make sure to always have water avalible, don't leave him in the car, never have chocolate laying around, make sure he knows the difference between his toys and your shoes. don't spoil him by giving him your shoe and not a toy. cause he should be like your kid. behave, attend to you, and know that you are the boss. set rules and make sure you follow those rules. (the rules for my cat is that he has to sleep in his own room. (i sleep in my own room, and so does he) he can't go on my bed, cant go on the table in the kitchen, etc. and he is only allowed to go outside in the daytime (cause racoons will use our kitty door and come inside and eat his food like last time, hah, and there are coyotes around)
So remember, have rules for him, keep your house clean. they know how to find stuff. no chocolate, makeup, valubles on the floor. don't give him too much human food. (they can have homemade cooked stuff sometimes. if you don't know which, its better to not give it to him) don't let him use you as a chew toy, and remember to teach him to be potty trained early, and teach him tricks (its like going to school for us) cause they need to use their noggins too!
Cockapoos are sooo cute! And i used 'him'.. so sorry it the dog is a she! don't forget to get the doggie spayed/neutered! girl dogs go into heat also.
ok just go thru anywhere u have stuff u care about and make sure everything is off the floor and out of reach from the puppy's mouth because anything they find they will chew. Also my neighbors got a cockapoo and my other friend got one too and the one common trait is when they get excited they pee. So if yours seems to start doing this when people come over take the dog outside to greet the person then let them back in.
Good luck with your puppy!!
Don't leave anythng special or vauable on the floor.
Don't leave food on the edge of the table unguarded.
Don't leave chocolate unwrapped.
Don't leave makeup out.
Have fun with your puppy. I wish you much luck!
umm i suggest you get them fixed when its young cause that can make things a lot easier and i learned this the hard way (3 pairs of new flip flops) keep you shoes picked up!
