So in response to my own rant about how ridiculously hard and time consuming University of Texas is, I have a survey question to pose for you.
When I was a young high school student I dreamed of ivy league schools, aimed for the best, shot high, and now I am honestly questioning whether I'm going to cut it here.
My question is, what type of personality do you think should go to which kind of school? What real advice would you give young aspiring teens when they are choosing their college?
I'll start by saying I think you should seriously think about how hard your willing to work, and be realistic about which school you choose. A slacker going to Harvard is probably going to end up with zero degree while a slacker at a community college will end up with a degree.Picking a appropriate college, advice to teens?
I think teens who like to learn should go to college. Whether they like to learn music, figure out the mechanics of a car or predict chemical reactions, that means they enjoying learning about a particular subject. But they should go to school for themselves, not because their parents are making them. College is a new start; slackers have the chance to change their behavior. I did.
When it comes to picking a college, students should know their own strengths and weakness and pick a school based on those. I often need help in my subjects, so a cutthroat school where the other students would intentionally sabotage me so that they can get a good grade is NOT the environment for me. On the other hand, I can be a bit of a slacker, so I needed a school/honors program that would push me to excel but be understanding if I faltered a little bit. I also wanted a school that didn't have a big party scene because that would not be conducive to my goals. I managed to find a school that has all of those things.
