So, I'm pretty sure I have asthma...but I don't really know. I sometimes ger to the point where I can barely breath because my chest gets really tight and it feels kind of like I have liquid in my lungs. It's been happening since forever, but it seems worse. I got a non-prescription inhaler, and it helps quite a bit. But my mom said i'm being stupid and thinks I'm using the inhaler just because....
is it possible to develop asthma? Because I don't think I had it when I was little....but I'm almost positive I do now (I'm 16)Teens with asthma? Advice?
well, i've had asthma since i was little, and i believe you can develop asthma as you get older, i'm not completly sure though. but it kind of sounds like what i feel when i have an asthma attack. anyway, how long have you had these symptoms? you could be just sick and have mucus in your throat. but yeah, that's pretty much what it feels like, when your having an asthma attack your throat gets really tight and swollen, that's why it feels like you can't breathe because from the lungs being so swollen it's hard for the air to go in and out, below is a picture of normal lungs, and asthma lungs

you see how the normal lungs are open and you have alot of room for air to go in and out, and on the asthma lungs, it's really swollen and there's no room for air to go in and out.
also, do you wheeze when you have these symptoms? the swelling of the lungs cause you to wheeze when you are having an asthma attack.
your mother should take you to a doctor because she should know if you have this, if you do have this she will have to get you a nebulizer, which is way better then the inhaler, you can use a mask with it, (it looks like an oxygen mask) or this other thing, i forgot what it's called, you basically put this special medicine in the nebulizer. i think it's called abuderall or something, and you breathe it in with the machine and it opens your lungs, so you can breathe better
edit: by any chance does these symptoms get worse when you have a cold or when you are sick? mine usually do. the way you described it, it sounds like these symptoms are only happening to you because you are around things you are allergic to, if anyone in your house smokes, see if they will quit and then you can see if these symptoms proceed. because you usually get the symptoms from alot of things, being sick, excersing , running, etc. i get them from these things, if you have it you may just have not have a serious case of asthmaTeens with asthma? Advice?
Hi, i have exercise induced asthma. and i have almost the same symptoms you have. you need to go to an allergist too, because you could have an allergic reaction to a bunch of things that set your respiratory system off. tell your mom that you're very serious because if i hadn't have had my rescue inhaler once i would've almost passed out for oxygen deprivation. good luck :)
Definately sounds like you do you should go into the doctor as soon as you can. If your mom cares about your health she will take you in you don't wanna end up having an attack and then not coming out of it cause of no inhaler. So she needs to take you in.
Sounds like it.
Yes, you can develop asthma, and if you think you have it I would suggest going to an Allergist...people who deal with allergies [obv. lolz] and asthma.
Good luck :]
Better go to your DOCTOR !!. He/she would gave you the best treatment.
